My Approach

Transpersonal-Consciential Therapy

My work rests on Transpersonal-Consciential Therapy, an integrative approach to human development, self-knowledge, emotional well-being and inner transformation.

My approach brings together different areas of professional training, each contributing to a fuller understanding of the person and of their process of development.

Instituto Brasileiro de Plenitude Humana — Brazil

Training in Transpersonal-Consciential Therapy, Consciential Psychology and Psychology of Virtues, focusing on self-knowledge, emotional development and understanding the relationship between the Essential Self, the I and the Ego.

The programme explores the distinction between our essential nature (Essential Self), our individual sense of identity (the I) and the structures of personality and ego through which we experience and respond to life.

The training integrates contributions from thinkers and researchers in psychology, human development, transpersonal studies and the understanding of human experience, including Larry Dossey, Hannah Wolff, Ken Wilber, Alírio de Cerqueira Filho, Joel Whitton, Alexander Eben and Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, together with the study and practical application of the Psychology of Virtues.

It also includes the development and practice of the virtues as a path to greater self-awareness, emotional balance, autonomy and personal growth.

The Essential Self and the Ego

In the Transpersonal-Consciential approach, we explore the relationship between the Essential Self and the Ego as part of the process of self-knowledge and personal development.

The Essential Self is who we are in a state of natural Light — our loving, good and beautiful dimension, holding the virtues in a latent state, so that they may be recognised, developed and lived.

It is the Self that thinks, feels and is immortal; our divine essence. It represents the deepest dimension of who we are and the potential for love, compassion, wisdom, authenticity, creativity and the development of the virtues.

The Ego is the personality structure through which we experience and respond to the world. We do not fight the Ego; we learn to relate to it.

In Consciential Psychology, we can observe the Ego in two faces: the evident face, which reveals the absence or non-exercise of a corresponding essential value, and the masked face, which can hinder deeper contact with our Essential Self.

Self-knowledge allows us to recognise, understand and transform the patterns of the Ego, gradually developing the virtues and allowing the Light, the Love and the essence of the Essential Self to express themselves ever more consciously in our lives.

These structures develop through our experiences, relationships, beliefs and conditioning, and can influence how we see ourselves and how we react to life's challenges.

The aim is not to eliminate or fight the ego, but to develop greater awareness of its patterns, so that we are no longer automatically driven by fear, insecurity, defensive reactions or limiting beliefs.

Through self-knowledge and consciential development, we can gradually create greater integration between our personality and our Essential Self, allowing qualities such as compassion, courage, wisdom, authenticity and love to be more present in daily life.

  • From automatic reaction to conscious choice.
  • From conditioning to greater freedom.
  • From disconnection to a deeper sense of ourselves.

Alef Trust — United Kingdom

Training in Transpersonal Coaching Psychology, integrating psychological theory and research with holistic approaches to human development.

The training addresses fundamental perspectives of psychology, including Carl Jung's work on the psyche, archetypes and the process of individuation, and Abraham Maslow's work on human motivation and self-realisation, as well as mindfulness, meaning, purpose and personal transformation.

These foundations shape the way I support each person, uniting psychological understanding, self-knowledge, emotional awareness, personal growth and the identification and cultivation of inner resources and virtues.

Seeing the Whole Person

I believe that each human being is unique and cannot be understood by looking only at a difficulty, behaviour or symptom.

In therapy, we seek to understand the person as a whole — their thoughts, emotions, experiences, relationships, patterns, values, strengths, needs and potential for growth.

Instead of only asking: “What is wrong?” we can begin to ask: “What is happening within me, what is this experience showing me, and what can I understand and develop from it?”

This perspective creates space for greater self-knowledge, self-acceptance and conscious change.

From Understanding to Transformation

Therapy is not only about understanding our difficulties; it is also about developing inner resources that allow us to respond to life in a different way.

We can explore:

  • Emotional awareness and regulation
  • Self-knowledge and self-acceptance
  • Limiting beliefs and recurring patterns
  • Relationships and personal boundaries
  • Autonomy and decision-making
  • Resilience and the capacity to face challenges
  • Values, purpose and meaning in life
  • The development and practice of the virtues

The aim is to turn awareness into conscious choices and concrete changes in everyday life.

Consciential Education for the Practice of the “Virtues”

An important part of my approach is Consciential Education for the Practice of the Virtues.

From this perspective, the virtues are not merely moral concepts or abstract ideas. They are qualities that can be consciously recognised, developed and practised in daily life, contributing to emotional balance, personal growth and the building of healthier relationships.

Virtues such as compassion, patience, courage, resilience, responsibility, humility, love and wisdom become practical tools for meeting life's challenges.

The process is gradual and dynamic:

  • Recognise our patterns without excessive judgement
  • Understand the origin and meaning of our reactions
  • Embrace our human experience with compassion
  • Practise new ways of conscious response
  • Transform knowledge into lived experience

The ultimate goal is to make awareness a daily practice, integrating these values into concrete choices and paths of greater wholeness.

My Therapeutic Process

A Journey of Self-Knowledge and Transformation

Therapy is a personal journey and there is no single path that works for everyone.

My approach encourages a gradual and deep process, structured in five essential steps:

  1. 1

    Recognise

Begin to observe what is happening within you: thoughts, emotions, reactions, behaviours, needs and patterns.

  2. 2

    Understand

Explore the origin of certain patterns and how they continue to influence your present experience.

  3. 3

    Embrace

Cultivate self-acceptance and compassion, allowing you to embrace your human experience free from excessive judgement.

  4. 4

    Practise

Develop new ways of responding and consciously exercise qualities and virtues that sustain your well-being and your relationships.

  5. 5

    Transform

Consolidate awareness and practice to create new possibilities of living with more autonomy, resilience, authenticity, balance and meaning.

Awareness creates possibilities. Practice creates change.
